Almaco jack

Almaco Jack.  Almaco Jack inhabit the outer reef slopes and offshore banks, where they many form small schools.  They are rarely caught in inshore waters.  Young Almacos are often seen far offshore around floating objects.  The Almaco Jack can be distinguished from the greater amberjack by the longer length of the second dorsal fin.  Almaco Jacks may cause ciguatera poisioning when found near coral reefs.  Information courtesy of The International Game Fish Association.
